Eye-Catchy Facebook Page

In this I will cover 3 major aspects when designing a page which is targeted for facebook use.

When you plan to design for platforms such as facebook, you should have in mind your audience and look through their eyes. It is important to ask yourself these questions because only with this you can see exactly the target which you want to achieve. Try to put yourself into the customer mind. Reflect on your reactions when visiting an alien page and try to look where they are pointing you to go with your eyes through what visual patterns and what images they are using to make you like the page.

One rule is simple, everyone is using the pointing arrow, or anything similar to say ‘Hello I’m here, Give me a LIKE’. As I discussed in the Effective E-commerce Design you need to point the user where you want him to read, or go, or do. Another way to point the user, to love the page, is to reflect on their interest. One will say ‘I like it’ and I will press the button, while other will say ‘oh this is not something that I really do or need’ . The second rule is simple: You cannot design for everyone, and you need to be very specific.

Let’s look at John, he is a mechanic working in body repair shop, and he has particular interests in football and old cars. If you want to sell green products to him, he will show his disinterest straight away. But the point I want to make in this argument, is not let him go and loose business. As a human being he has certain basic human instincts, and John will always react to naked ladies, with the exception that he might be gay. This is not something to consider, unless you are designing specific for girls with influence in boys.

Now to get into John’s mind, you got to look through a women mind. Why would he react to this particular add which is related to none of his interests, apart for the women body. This is John, he comes where the women goes. Now that you made the connection, you got to give him more than that in a passive way.

Lets say you sell green products, but you are not targeting directly green cars. This will bring a passive sell to your facebook page under the advert of another product which you did not particular advertised for it in a direct way.

Now let’s look at another project, where we’ve played to motive of colour. With this, we’ve target the eye catchy’ness of using colours in such a way to create a visual impact. Combining really opposing colours, to create bold contrasts.
